The Aetherworld is one of the names for the magical dimension where magical entities can hide if they don’t want to stay in this world. A magical creature or person can pass from this world to the other world anywhere on earth and they will end up in the same place on the other world. There are a few permanent large portals, like at the poles, where a person walking through a snowstorm can pass through them without noticing and think there is another world beyond the ice and snow.
Hollow earth/ Ice wall
Some people are known to have made it to the portal at the north pole, and with it lying across the ground, have mistaken it for an access port into the bowels of the earth, and when people mange to get to the green parts of the Aetherworld, they assume they’ve made it to the center of the earth. This gives rise to the strange idea that the earth is mostly hollow, with its own sun, and entire ecosystems down there as on the outer surface.

Occasionally people have gone through the polar portal in the middle of a snowstorm, coming out the other side with the impression that there is another land beyond the ice of the polar points. This make people believe that there have travelled through wall of ice to find the outerlands.
