There are many creatures that subsist on souls, and quite a few categories of humans that can do it as well, some without even noticing as they consume the soul of foodstuff like grapes incidentally while eating the physical shell. one advantage of having an animavore as a pet is that you can share your food with them without losing out on any of the content or flavour (mostly), and it prevents a build-up of spectral debris that can attract scavenger ghosts or poltergeists.
Soul sucking that is not for survival, such as during excessively long phone calls with the taxman or playing mobile phone games for entertainment, are not included in this definition.
