A ship for sailing across the clouds
A Cloudship is made for sailing across the clouds of the sky, navigating the ins and outs of the stratocumulus, rolling along on the crest of a nimbus, or avoiding running aground on the shallow strains of stratus that stretch across the plains. Often chosen as the vehicles of the gods and the elementals, it can provide free access to the skies of the world but can get stranded on clear days, unless the ship itself is made of clouds or, a common solution from the shipwrights were to fill the upper deck of the ship with spare cumulonimbus during earlier parts of the flight.
The hardest part of owning a cloudship is actually launching it from the ground. Sometimes the owner is a god, like Zeus or Thor, who can throw the craft into the under their own power, but it is far more common to use a modified trebuchet, often referred to as a light launch, or to build a giant tower, winch the ship up to the very top, and push it off as a cloud passes by. About 1 in 10 ships survive the launching process.
